JAMMU, Sept 2: A police official died today due to suspected cardiac arrest in Sainik Colony area of city outskirts.
“Head Constable Balwant Raj (50) son of Tharu Ram, resident of Ratnuchak, who was deployed at residence of Deputy SP Shashi Thakur in Sainik Colony, collapsed this morning while on duty after he experienced sudden chest pain”, a police official said. He said in unconscious condition the cop was rushed to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu, where he was declared as brought dead by the doctors.
“After completion of medico-legal formalities, the body of the deceased was handed over to his legal heirs for last rites while inquest proceedings in this connection were initiated at police station Channi Himmat”, he said, adding prima facie it appears that the cop died of suspected heart attack.
