JAMMU, Sept 23: The members of Union of all J&K Contingent Paid & Cooks of Education Department here today staged a protest demonstration in favour of their demands.
The protest was led by Pritam Lal, district Jammu president of the Union who said that the Cooks working in Education Department get a meagre salary which is insufficient to meet the expenditure of their families.
The protesters demanded wages of the Cooks of Education Department as per Minimum Wages Act and appointment of those working for more than 10 years as permanent government employees.
Another demand raised on this occasion was crediting of salaries of these Cooks in their accounts.
The protesting Cooks said if their demand was not met within seven days then they shall be compelled to start a long protest programme which may affect schooling for which the government will be responsible.
