JAMMU, Jan 1: Saleem Beigh, State Convener of the Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage (INTACH), called on Governor N.N. Vohra at the Raj Bhavan here today.
Beigh briefed the Governor about various conservation and management initiatives being undertaken by the INTACH for preserving the cultural heritage and natural heritage of the State and create an awareness among the public for their preservation.
Governor observed that the various Government departments, particularly those who carry out construction and other works in the field were not adequately aware of the importance of historical and archival buildings and monuments and stressed the need for all required steps being taken regarding the revival and restoration of the historical, cultural heritage of the State which would also contribute to promoting tourism in the State.
