Controversial comments on Whatsapp group lead to clash

JAMMU, July 6: A preventive action was taken by Police following a clash between two groups of aggrieved candidates of Civil Services Exams, who were taking part in the protest demonstration against JK Public Service Commission, here today at Jammu University.
In the clash, a candidate sustained injuries on his face thus  triggering a tension on the campus and ultimate intervention of Police, which has registered a case in this connection under Section 107/151 of RPC at Gandhi Nagar Police Station and took the alleged assailant into custody.
The trouble erupted soon after the conclusion of the protest demonstration when a candidate namely Akhil Sharma raised objection over alleged controversial and anti-national posts on a Whatsapp group by another candidate. The heated exchange of words between the two soon turned into a physical clash in which Akhil sustained injuries on his face.
The incident triggered tension on the campus and soon a number of students assembled there. However, the situation was diffused with timely intervention of a Police party from Gandhi Nagar Police Station, which shifted the injured to hospital and took alleged assailant into custody.
The youth in Police custody, identified as Imran Malik of Rajouri, is a Village Level Worker and had appeared in the recently held Civil Services exams by the Jammu Kashmir Public Service Commission.
