Ladies and gentlemen,am compelled to pendown few lines ,without bowing downfor the guidance of society at large.A case in point one :Mrs selina cherian, mother of Mr Sanjay, died of corona.His message to all is donot live with a false sense of security,thinking that you are immune to it and donot realise it only when the virus enters your own home.A case in point two:when at a grocery shop, i pointed out a water tanker driver (a young boy, must be 20-22 years old),why is he not wearing mask and why is he forcing his entry into other customers already queued up for buying grocery items.He retorted and replied,saying, “corona muje hoga na”(I will get infected).I told him that is not the case, infact you will spread it to others too.That is the problem, to which he replied sorry and left.Such a false sense of security and purely a lackadaisical approach is full of dangerous repercussions.
A case in point three:I pointed out to a milk vendor, who supplies me milk daily that you must wear face mask and carry along a small bottle of sanitiser too.As and when to use you are aware. In case of doubt you may ask.He followed what I explained to him and started wearing a mask.But wearing of mask was improper as the nose was not covered, as the mask was much below his nose. He fell normal sick and his grandson took over the assigned duties from him.I explained to him all what i explained to his maternal uncle.This boy dashing youngster(must be between 18-20 years) followed my advice in letter and spirit and what to say of wearing mask , he carried with him a small bottle of sanitiser too.This incident was quite encouraging for me. I praised him and said shabash well done and you will do well in your business too.He even sanitises his hands before and after giving a delivery.Very nice of him.He learnt.Six to eight other cases in point, ladies and children well received our guidance and adhered to wearing of face masks on regular basis.Good. We appreciated them too.
From the ongoing ,we have noticed that a behavioural change is must to carry the day and to fight successfully the ongoing corona onslaught. But, we all, have to chip in and contribute in a big or small way to make things happen on ground. Since March 2020 onwards , we all have gone through various lockdowns of varying duration, alright.The Indian Government acted wisely and very much well on time to order lockdowns from time to time so as to save maximum precious human lives as much as possible.Also,
Government followed the slow and steady wins the race approach and ordered opening of markets in a very well thought of and planned manner that is opening some (less risky) and keeping some closed (more risky). This was a good step in the right direction, as the government realised that a nation cannot be kept lockdown for an indefinite period, since livelihood and employment aspects are involved. However educational institutions viz, schools , colleges and universities will take little longer time to open due to obvious reasons of likely high risk infections. But please note that online classes are on. A right step in the right direction, so as to ensure that studens remain well connected with studies and the study momentum is maintained.
As responsible citizens , we too owe certain responsibilities towards our nation, Government and its people and mankind.So be it. A soft request to all citizens, a sort of clarion call to cooperate , support and do the enumerated:-
– Maintain patience and perseverance. We know, we all were/ are under lockdowns in some form or the other. But , this is the mandatory requirement under the present trying circumstances to quell the harsh threat of corona onslaguht. Please understand.
– One swallow doesnot make a summer. Cooperate and support Government advisories issued from time to time. This way we will be able to save precious human lives and defeat corona successfully all over india .
– Each one educate one. we all must take full safety precautions. Those who show lethargic attitude please educate them too
– Each one teach one. We all must share experiences with each other on day to day basis on phone calls and help benefit each other.
– Wear face mask and maintain correct social (physical) distance of six feet.
– Throw away the lackadaisical attitude (couldnot careless attitude).
– Donot take virus lightly and donot wait till it hits your home to make you realise. Please realise much before the tragedy befalls is a better precaution. Remember prevention is better than cure. So prevent it in the beginning itself by taking full precautions
– Precautions are much better option than getting quarantined in a quarantine centre.
– Shun away care two hoots approach.unwarranted.causes lot of harm
– Do regular exercise/yoga to increase your immunity.
– Follow strictly the guidelines issued by AYUSH from time to time to keep corona miles away.
– If one is asymptomatic and has been ordered to do self quarantine at home, which is the norm today as per Government. Do quarantine religiously and donot mix around with other members as a precautionary measure to avoid further spread of infection.You are doing a great service to the humanity indeed.
-If your sample has been taken for testing. Donot mix with other members till the negative report arrives at your door. And even if the report is negative do self quarantine for 14 days. No shortcuts please.Shortcuts (smaller mistakes) invite major problems (bigger happenings) subsequently.
-If you have a travel history (come from outside the state) of negative report earlier, you are still required to be tested.Please do self quarantine till the report is received. Donot put the lives of other members at risk. Even if the report is negative still do self quarantine for 14 days as a precautionary measure.
– Kuch Nhi Hota Ya Kuch Nhi Hogi (donot be complacent). Such a false sense of thinking is fraught with dangers.Please shun it immediately before the tragedy hits.
– Act as a responsible citizen and donot malign others.
– If you are required to visit some relative or friend sometime due to dire emergency, must call and inform them that you are taking full safety precautions with regard to corona and let them reply in affirmative they do take too.You are welcome to proceed now.
– Please remember you are safe only when all others around you are safe. Therefore all and sundry need to take precautions. A must need without any exaggeration
– Pay full fledged respect to corona patients. Donot outclass them , they all are human beings as good as any other.Show sympathy towards them . This virus is a disease, can catch anyone.Instead support them morally by telling them worry not , this day shall too pass. You need to tell them that recovery rate is 74 percent and mortality rate is just 1.72 percent (almost negligible)
– People with co- morbidities to take full precautions and donot venture out until and unless very necessary ( 50 years and above,children less than 10 years and pregnant ladies).
What Government needs to do is spelt out below:
– Provide all kinds of state-of-the-art facilities at all quarantine centres. Today lot many patients at these centres are cribbing a lot with regard to non-availability of medicines, non availability of good quality food and drinking water and also non availability of doctors and paramedical staff. The local administration must look into these aspects and improve things immediately,if there is any deficiency. This is need of the hour.
– Administration to ensure that all orders passed should not remain on files only but ensure their implementation on ground, which assumes greater significance under the present trying circumstances.
– Form committees which could be headed by corporators( they are the elected representatives) to ensure that people of concerned locality are educated to the hilt to follow government advisories / instructions in letter and spirit , this will pay better pay offs be rest assured.
– Proper monitoring mechanism (testing, tracing, isolation and treatment)be ensured. Once a person’s sample is taken for testing, the report should not take long time (presently taking anything between 2-8 days). This vacuum between testing and delivery of report is a dangerous period. If the report is positive, the concerned person has already done the damage, which could have been avoided. Though in this case individual concerned is equally at fault, should have avoided the contact with other members. It is recommended that report must be prepared and delivered quickly as early as possible with the instructions to the individual that please unergo self quarantine till the report is received and even after the report is received as negative , remain quarantine for 14 days to ensure cent percent safety of all.
The Government alone can do nothing much appreciable. We all citizens must cooperate and support the Government in implementing its advisories / instructions on ground in letter and spirit for better positive results.One swallow doesnot make a summer. United efforts of both Government and citizens will pay better dividends.
Those people with Covid can not be careless attitude need to be guided to get them on the right track.Firm and friendly approach by the Government and the staff is very much need of the hour under the prevailing trying circumstances.This virus is real. It is not a media hype. You read about people falling sick and succumbing. With a false sense of security ,thinking that we are immune to it. you will realise it only when the virus enters your own home.So take no chances but take full precautions and enjoy life full.Nothing to worry at all.
