Contractual Lecturers vow to continue chain hunger strike

JAMMU, June 4: Even as the ongoing hunger strike by Contractual Lecturers (10+2) entered into 111th day on Sunday, there has been no response from the Government side till date.
After fresh batch of Contractual Lecturers began chain hunger strike this morning amidst raising of slogans, the agitators held a strong protest demonstration.  They vowed to continue their ongoing hunger strike till logical conclusion and even threatened to further intensify the struggle if no decision is taken on their regularization in the next Cabinet meeting.

These Contractual Lecturers have been demanding their regularization as per the Civil Services Special Provision Act 2010, a policy framed for the Regularization of all the ad-hoc/ Contractual/ Consolidated employees after rendering seven years of services.
While addressing the protest demonstration, Arun Bakshi, president of Contractual Lecturers (10plus2) Association, rued that the Government was making false assurances to them. “We will not tolerate any more cruelty by the Government towards Contractual Lecturers, who have been exploited so far. If our demands are not conceded at an earliest than we will make this agitation as a mass movement which will have fatal consequences for this Government,” he warned.
Jeevan Kumar, State press secretary of the Association, also addressed the protest dharna. He said that these 10+2 lecturers were contractual vide order number 1584-edu.of 2003 and vide order no.1328 of GAD. All the contractual lecturers are to be continued till further order and their regularization, he added while quoting the official order in this regard.
