JAMMU, June 15: Frustrated over no response of the Government despite their continuous hunger strike for the last 122 days, the agitating Contractual Lecturers today torched an effigy of the Education Minister.
Holding a strong protest demonstration and raising slogans against the Government, the agitating Contractual Lecturers held the Education Minister responsible for callous attitude towards their genuine demand of regularization.

While addressing the protest demonstration, president Contractual Lecturers (10+2) Association, Arun Bakhshi said that they would continue the chain hunger strike till their case for regularization is settled. “Government should avoid its apathetic attitude towards the Contractual Lecturers and consider our demand, which is genuine,” he added
These Contractual Lecturers are demanding their regularization as per the Civil Services Special Provision Act 2010, a policy framed for the regularization of all the Ad-hoc/ Contractual/ Consolidated employees after rendering seven years of services.
Rakesh Kumar also addressed the protest demonstration and said that they were contractual vide order number 1584-edu.of 2003 and vide order no.1328 of GAD, hence all the contractual lecturers are to be continued till further order and their regularization.
Meanwhile, Sanjay Kumar, Zabir Hussain Shah, Rakesh Kumar Khajuria and Balvinder Kour began their chain hunger strike today.
