JAMMU, June 3: Contractors working with different divisions of PWD/PMGSY on different Central schemes have urged upon the J&K Government to fix the selling rates of royalty of all type mineral before beginning e-tendering process.
The issue came up for discussion in a meeting of the contractors which was also attended by members of Chamber of Hot Mix Plant Association, Jammu. All the participants discussed in detail the issue of poor management of mining and minerals by the Government.
The members raised the issue of harassment of the contractors by different agencies including Mining Department. They observed that due to delay in completion of different works under central schemes, common man is suffering and facing difficulties in construction of houses.
The meeting observed that the Department of Geology and Mining is coming with NIT for auction of mining blocks to private parties. They expressed concern as to how the Government is advertising blocks in the absence of royalty rates which is to be charge from PWD, PMGSY contractors/public.
“Under such circumstances, it will create lot of harassment of public/PWD, PMGSY contractors and will encourage mining contractors to fix royalty rates of their own,” the contractors said, adding, Government has already fix rate of Rs 25/Ton for mining material required for construction of road and building. They appealed the Government to fix the selling rates of royalty of all type of mineral material before e-tendering is put to process.
