Contractors meet BJP leaders, show concern over pending liabilities

JAMMU, July 7: PWD contractors raised their concern about the issue of their long pending liabilities with the Government during a meeting with senior BJP leaders at party, headquarter, Trikuta Nagar, here, today.
J&K BJP president, Ravinder Raina accompanied by former Dy. CM Kavinder Gupta, former Minister Sukhnandan Choudhary and Chander Prakash Ganga and former MLC, Ch. Vikram Randhawa listened to the issues put forth by the PWD contractors who met them today.
Chander Gupta, Naresh Sharma, Mr. Jamwal and others were amongst the prominent PWD contractors who called upon the BJP leadership.
Contractors informed the BJP leaders that they have executed various construction works over a long time back but the liabilities for the same have been pending for last four years and they are suffering huge pain and agony due the same.
They said that the Macdemization under plan was then approved by the then Chief Minister of that time and duly discussed in the District Development Board (DDB) meetings. They said that taking the public issues on the priority they did the work but no payment has been released since then and the contractors have been suffering due to the apathy of the concerned. They said that they are being victimized and are being harassed by the concerned authorities. They also said that the funds released by the Finance Department last year were surrendered.
Ravinder Raina, assured the PWD contractors that he will take up the matter with the Lieutenant Governor very soon and will ensure that the PWD contractors may get the justice at the earliest.
