JAMMU, Apr 13: The inhabitants of village Rang Bihand of Ramnagar have appealed Governor NN Vohra to constitute Shri Chountra Mata/ Pingla Mata Shrine Board on the pattern of Sukrala Mata.
The constitution of Shrine Board for Chountra Mata is the need of the hour, as thousands of devotees every year undertake Chountra Mata Yatra and visit the Holy Darbar via Ramnagar and Thial side, said the inhabitants of village Rang Bihand, alleging that now it is beyond the capacity of the Shri Mata Chountra Parbandak Committee to manage and control huge rush of devotees.
Citing example of this year’s Yatra, which concluded on April 8, 2014, the inhabitants said though the Shri Mata Chountra Parbandak Committee in collaboration with district administration had made elaborate arrangements for visiting thousands of devotees, but the rain and strong winds disturbed the Yatra and the devotees including ARTO, SDM and Tehsildar of the area had to take shelter in our village at night.
Moreover, due to bad weather and slippery conditions, the passenger and private vehicles could not ply on concerned roads, so we appeal the Governor to constitute Shrine Board for Chountra Mata for smooth conduct of the Yatra, they added.
The inhabitants also appealed for blacktopping Kirmoo-Chauntra Mata and Sunatter-Dhanu-Chuntra Mata Roads, upgradation of Dehmma-Thial-Chountra Mata Road to provide best connectivity to Holy Darbar and construction of tourists huts, toilets and passenger sheds on Yatra routes from Thial, Rang and Sunatter side in a phased manner at suitable places to accommodate devotees during bad weather and huge rush.
