JAMMU, May 10: The Dogra Sadar Sabha (DSS) has urged the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to provide a responsive mechanism to deal with the ongoing COVID-19 crisis and constitute a special cell under his direct supervision to monitor functioning of helpline numbers so that people are able to get timely relief.
This was resolved in an online meeting of the ‘Dogra Sahayata Kendra’ Committee held under the chairmanship of Gulchain Singh Charak, president, Dogra Sadar Sabha. Members emphasized that, while the health workers were working round the clock and leaving no stone unturned to manage the situation, there was invariably no response from the helpline numbers published by the Government, for providing proper guidance to the distressed members of the public.
Charak further expressed dismay that no cognizance seems to have been taken of the suggestion made by him earlier to utilize the Yatri Niwas, Bhagwati nagar which has facilities for accommodating hundreds of persons but was lying empty. Similarly, utilizing Vaishnavi Dham at the Rail-head Complex, constructed by the Shri Mata Vaishnodevi Shrine Board headed by the LG as its Chairman, was the need of the hour, as suggested earlier.
During the meeting, the composition of various committees was also finalized for smooth functioning and supervision of the ‘Dogra Sahayata Kendra’. These included the Apex Committee headed by Gulchain Singh Charak, the Central Coordination Committee headed by Ajay Khajuria (former DC), the Finance Committee headed by Rajesh Gupta (former president, Jammu Warehouse Traders Association) and the Media Committee headed by Gambhir Dev (I/c Youth Wing of Dogra Sadar Sabha).
Further, the Sub Committees for various contact points of the Dogra Sahayata Kendra were also finalized, which included Col K S Jamwal (Retd), vice president DSS, In charge of the Sub-Kendra at Dogra Bhawan, Dogra Hall, S C Rekhi, Shri Laxmi Narayan Mandir Management Trust, In charge of the Sub-Kendra at Shri Lakshmi Narayan Mandir Complex, Gandhinagar and Samar Dev, Secretary, Dogra Educational Trust, Incharge of the Sub-Kendra at Dogra Educational Complex, Bari Brahmana.
