UDHAMPUR, Feb 12: Panthers Party leader and MLA Udhampur, Balwant Singh Mankotia has demanded constitution of Delimitation Commission in the State.
Addressing workers during one day convention here today, the MLA demanded that Delimitation Commission should be set up before conduct of coming Assembly elections so that the people of Jammu province can get equal representation in the State Assembly according to population, geographical area and voters’ population.
He said it is unfortunate that even after the lapse of four years, not even a single leader/ Minister from Jammu region raised voice for Delimitation and providing much awaited justice to the people except NPP leadership. Even the Congress and BJP stood exposed on the issue. The Congress during last elections had promised the people to go for Delimitation but it never took initiative in this regard. The party just befooled the people with false assurances.
The NPP leader said that Congress party has no right to stay in power if it fails to make commitments made in its manifesto. The Congress must withdraw its support from coalition on this issue, he said.
Mankotia said Jammu has larger area as compared to Kashmir but Jammu has just 37 seats in Assembly but Kashmir 46. This is the glaring example of injustice. Even the population of this region is more as compared to Kashmir but some people manage and fudge the figures to befool the innocent public. He asked the people to support NPP to seek justice for Jammu region.
