JAMMU, Sept 10: Justice Virender Singh, Executive Chairman J&K State Legal Services Authority (SLSA), has directed the Chairmen of all District Legal Services Authorities of Jammu province to constitute core groups to help the flood affected victims by ensuring immediate help to flood affected victims through the Government and non-Government agencies.
These core groups will co-ordinate with the different departments of Government and NGOs for brining immediate relief to victims and supervise the distribution of relief materials and construction of temporary shelters for lodging the victims to safer places.
Besides these core groups will also ensure availability of food, medicine and drinking water to disaster victims, supervise the construction of damaged dwelling houses, supervise the restoration of cattle and conduct the Legal Awareness Programmes in the relief camps on the rights of the victims, organize village legal care and support center in the affected area on temporary basis, assist the rehabilitation care and future education of orphaned children, assist in problems relating insurance policies, arrange the psychiatrists help/counseling to the flood affected victims who have been subjected to psychological shock and expression on account of acute floods.
Due to the acute flood conditions, the core group could not be constituted in the flood affected areas in the Kashmir Valley till the water level comes to the normal.
As soon as water level falls down, the State Legal Services Authority would reach out to the people for legal services and help by constituting similar core groups.
