JAMMU, Sept 10: Ashok Sharma, former MLA and senior Congress leader has demanded rushing of 5000 tents, blankets and ration to the flood and rain affected people of Kalakote constituency of Rajouri district to provide immediate assistance to the needy.
Interacting with flood and rain affected population of Taryath, Simbal Gala, Padri Ghai, Panjah, Tatapani, Androla, Dalhori and Chingus today, Mr Sharma also pleaded for dispatching medical teams to provide medicare facilities as well as supply of ration to the public of cut off areas of the constituency.
He thanked the Army for rendering timely help to the affected population in the area, which helped in providing immediate succor to the flood and rain affected populace.
The former legislator stressed for immediate restoration of vital road links, water and power supply as well as availability of kerosene oil and ration on war footings.
Meanwhile, the Congress party is setting-up a control room in Kalakote which will become operational from tomorrow.
Mr Sharma said that the teams of party workers will reach out to the flood and rain affected people in the entire constituency.
