JAMMU, Dec 21: Congress party membership card distribution function held at Ambika Colony today.
Former Minister and senior Congress leader Raman Bhalla was the chief guest on the occasion. The programme was organized by Block President Kuldeep Chib, wherein large number of Congress workers including Anil Chopra District Jammu President, Congress Ex-Corporater Vice president District Jammu, Satish Sharma Panch Balwan Singh, Panch Buti Ram, Panch Amar Nath, Suman Choudhary, Prabha Slathia and locals were present.
Speaking on the occasion, Bhalla asked the cadre to go on a vigorous campaign to strengthen and expand secular and progressive space in the State. Asking workers to enroll members who are committed to the ideology and principles of the party, he asked them to lay special emphasis on youth, women, minorities and other downtrodden sections of the society.
Bhalla said Congress is the only unifying force in the country and it has always taken care of the interests and aspirations of different sections. He urged senior functionaries, legislators, district presidents, contesting candidates besides block functionaries and representatives of Mahila, Youth, Seva Dal, INTUC and NSUI to enroll new members including youth, women, minorities and other downtrodden sections of society. He said this is the only way to defeat the designs of communal, divisive and opportunist forces in the State.
Describing the role played by Congress in the State Legislature, Bhalla said that Congress being the constructive opposition in the State, played a very pivotal role by way of debating and highlighting the issues pertaining to State and problems confronting people for their resolution.
Bhalla said that Congress is a strong unifying force which represents each and every section of the pluralistic society and is a vibrant political party in all the three regions of the State.
He said that the Modi led Government at the centre has failed to even fulfill a single commitment with the people and instead brought miseries for the common man due to unprecedented price hike in the country.
“The sudden announcement of demonetization on November 8, 2016 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi was a move to divert the attention of the countrymen from the real issues”, he said.
