SRINAGAR: A Congress candidate today filed nomination papers for Anantnag Assembly constituency, going to polls on June 19.
An official spokesman said that on the fourth day after the issuance of Election Notification for conduct of byelections to Anantnag Assembly constituency, first nomination was filed in the office of Returning Officer.
Hilal Ahmad Shah of Congress deposited his nomination papers before the concerned Returning officer, he said. The seat fell vacant following the death of chief minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed on January 7. (AGENCIES)
