Srinagar, July 23: The Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee & Srinagar District Congress Committee today held strong protests against rising incidents of terror activities in different districts and blamed the Centre Govt for failing to contain terrorism.
The Party also protested against amendments to the J&K’s Reorganization Act, terming the move politically motivated, a mockery of democracy on the part of BJP led Govt at the Centre.

In the backdrop of terror incidents in different districts both in Jammu as well as Kashmir and subsequent loss of brave hearts in line of duty, Congress leaders and workers held strong protests against growing terrorism while blaming the Centre for failing to restore peace.
Congress leaders and workers led by JKPCC senior vice president Mohd Anwar Bhat started a protest march towards MA Road from Srinagar Party Office against the regular terror incidents. They also protested against the powers transferred to Lt.Governor after amending the J&K Reorganization Act while terming the move unprecedented and against the democratically elected Govt in J&K before the conduct of much awaited Assembly elections.
The agitating Congress leaders and workers raised slogans against Centre Govt for deteriorating security situation in J&K resulting in loss of many brave hearts during the terror activities.
The heavy contingent of Police detained senior vice president Mohd Anwar Bhat, general secretaries Mir Ruvais, Waseem Ahmad Shalla and secretary Firdous Ahmad Wani; they were taken to Police Station Kothi Bagh and were released after hours.
Congress workers continued their protest at the Party Office and demanded revocation of amendments to the reorganization act and restoration of democratic rights in J&K. They also asked the Govt to take immediate measures to restore peace in J&K.
JKPCC vice president Abdul Gani Khan, Srinagar DCC president Imtiyaz Ahmad Khan and various other leaders participated in the protest.
