Congress flays Modi Govt over rise in swine flu cases in J&K

Jammu, Feb 26: Congress today flayed the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi for being non-responsive to the rise in cases of swine flu across Jammu and Kashmir , and other parts of the country.
In a joint statement senior Congress leader’s which include MLA Inderwal G.M.Saroori, MLA Gool-Arnas Aijaz Ahmed Khan, MLA Surankote Akram Choudhary, MLA Sopore Haji Abdul Rashid, MLA Devsar Mohammad Amin Bhat, MLA Mahore Mamtaz Khan, MLA Shangus Gulzar Ahmed Wani, MLA Nobra Deldan Namgail, PCC Vice president Janak Raj Gupta, Spokesperson Salman Nizami, PCC Secretary Masood Choudhary accused the Prime Minister of tuning his entire cabinet into denial mode with regard to swine flu cases.
Congress leaders also slammed the Central Government for completely ignoring the health sector in J&K. They said that the Government hospitals lacked doctors, nursing staff, equipment, technicians and even hygienic conditions.
They said timely dose of temiflu can save lives. PHCs and some other hospitals do not have sufficient doctors. As a result patients die without diagnosis and swine flu spreads. People are forced to visit private hospitals as Government hospitals are not taking care of patients. Private hospitals are fleecing people. Government should adequately compensate the cost of treatment of poor and middle class patients.
They advised the Government not to suppress the facts fearing criticism from the opposition parties.
The Congress leaders appealed to the PM to take special interest and direct the officials to take the required measures to stop the rise of swine flu and other diseases in the State.
