VIJAYPUR, Dec 23: Asking ruling BJP to clear its stand, Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) criticized those political parties opposing ‘domicile’ certificate to the West Pakistan (WP) Refugees.
JKPCC general secretary and former Minister, Manjit Singh today held a meeting with the party workers and Displaced Persons (DP’s) at village Shekupura in Ramgarh of Vijaypur and discussed various issues.
While extending support to West Pakistan Refugees, Manjit Singh said that those opposing the domicile certificate to the West Pakistan Refugees have been exposed for their double standard. He assured that Displaced Persons (DP’s) have been standing with them.
JKPCC general secretary said that the ruling BJP had assured citizenship rights to the West Pakistan Refugees in Jammu and Kashmir during election rallies and even Prime Minister Modi had also assured the refugees.
Contrary to their claims, he said, the BJP has totally failed to give ‘domicile’ certificates to the refuges for their recruitment in the central security forces or other jobs outside the State as their coalition partner is opposing to give domicile certificate to West Pak Refugees.
“The BJP must clear its stand as people have doubts about its role,” said the Manjit Singh. Meanwhile, he also alleged that Modi led Central Government has misled the Displaced Persons in Jammu and Kashmir with compensation package of Rs 2000 Cr.
He said that the administration has been allegedly forcing the DPs to give affidavit that they will further not claim the compensation as it is full and final. Presently, the Government has been given a compensation of Rs 5.5 lakh to each DP family and it is being opposed by the DPs with a request to the Government to accept the recommendation of Joint Parliamentry Committee (JPC).
The former Minister further appealed Government to enhance the package amount for the DPs and give Rs 30 lakh per family to the Displaced Persons.
