Cong workers protest against ration price hike

JAMMU, Dec 5:  A strong protest demonstration over hike of prices of ration at Govt  depots was held  by Congress workers at Gurah Morh,  Bakshi Nagar here today.
A large number of  Congress workers led by PCC general secretary   Manmohan Singh assembled at Shakti Nagar Chowk Jammu to protest against the Govt over the hike of prices of ration and other essential commodities. The Congress workers in the shape of procession carrying placards  in their hands, raising slogans  passed through Shakti Nagar Bazaar and it culminated at Gurah Morh, Bakshi Nagar.
Addressing the protesters   Manmohan Singh said that  PDP-BJP has failed to come to the expectations of the masses in the State. He said that J&K is passing through the worst ever period since independence.  He claimed that people of the State have been experiencing the bad governance and worst days instead of `good days’ ( Achhe Din) as claimed by Prime Minister Narendra  Modi.
He said that the price of flour (atta) has been suddenly raised by Rs 5 per Kg and price of rice by Rs 5 per kg. These has led to a lot of pressure on the poor people who were already fighting the menace of inflation.
He added that the recent demonetization has broken the back of the State and the nation. There is chaos all around and this ill prepared move  has left the common man in a lurch.
Kanta Bhan, PCC vice president,  Anil Chopra, DCC Jammu urban president  while addressing the protesters launched scathing attack on PDP and BJP. They said  that PDP is the party which only banks on Kashmir while BJP who claims to be champion of Jammu and both the parties  have failed to come to the expectations of people of their respective regions and ultimately the people of whole  state are suffering.
Prominent among those present included  BB Gupta, Dr Ramakant Khajuria, Rajinder Singh, Balbir Kumar, Gourav Chopra,  Tamana, Vijay Malhotra, Suresh Maini, Pawan Shrma, Vijay Kumar,  Gunga Kumar and others.
