Cong workers protest outside DC office

UDHAMPUR, Sept 2: Congress activists led by senior leader Sumeet Magotra staged a demonstration outside the office of Deputy Commissioner Udhampur for hike in the price of LPG cylinder second time by BJP Govt within 15 days.
Senior Congress activists including Brij Mohan Sharma, Sanjeev Dubey, Vijay Manhas were raising loud slogans against BJP and PM Modi for failure to control inflation. They alleged that steep rise in the prices of fuel including LPG, petrol and diesel has broken the backbone of the public.
While addressing the protesting workers Magotra alleged that Modi Government at the Centre was anti- people and it adopted dictatorial attitude to govern the country. He further said that Government hardly two weeks ago increased the rate of LPG Cylinder by Rs 25 and now once again, it has increased Rs.25 per domestic cylinder and Rs75 commercial cylinder.
Magotra disclosed that in 2014 when UPA Government was in power, then LPG Cylinder rate was Rs 410 and now it has reached more than double within a period of seven years. He alleged that Central Government has collected about Rs 23 lakh crore as tax imposed on petrol, diesel and LPG but government has failed to provide any relief package to the poor and middle section of the society during COVID.
He further alleged that Government has failed to wave off the rent of electricity and drinking water. Congress leader warned the government to review the increased rates of LPG cylinder otherwise people will go for a big agitation.
