Lt. Gen. Mehta is CM candidate of SSP

JAMMU, Sept 2: Sainik Samaj Party (SSP) today announced son of the soil, Lt. Gen. P.S Mehta (retired) as their Chief Ministerial candidate for the upcoming J&K assembly elections.
In a handout Col. S.S Pathania (retired), president SSP J&K announced that decision in this regard was taken by SSP working committee in a virtual meeting and Col. B.S Parmar (retired), SSP national president endorsed the decision and conveyed best wishes to Gen. Mehta and SSP J&K.
Gen. Mehta is a second generation officer, hailing from Kashmir and has unique distinction of being the first Sikh Lt. Gen. from Kashmir valley.
Alumni of Officers Training Academy Chennai, Mehta was commissioned in an elite Cavalry Regiment standing first in order of merit (Gold Medalist).
During his 40 years career, he with industriousness and competence ensured sterling performance in all command and staff assignments and rose to the coveted rank of Lt. Gen. and is known as Thinking General.
He has authored numerous strategic papers on J&K, and has been actively involved in seminars on Kashmir.
He has been connected with the people at grass root level and has mastered the understanding of complex dimension of J&K including socio-political and economic besides sub-political realities, intelligence set up and psychological impressions of public.
Col. Pathania extended best wishes to Gen. Mehta on behalf of all the members of J&K SSP for his new journey on political canvas.
The meeting was attended by Col. Randhir Singh, Virender Blowria, Sukhjinder Syal, Rajive Luthra, Dr Karan Gupta, Vipin Sharma, Chander Sharma and Jasbinder Singh.
