Cong workers hold protest demonstration

R S PURA, Sept 3: A strong protest demonstration was staged by the  Congress workers and border residents  of the area at R S Pura town here today.
The villagers from  RS Pura, Bishnah,  Ramgarh and Suchetgarh areas, led by former Minister and PCC general secretary  Manjit Singh and accompanied by senior party leaders  Rajnesh Sharma, Manmohan Singh, Ch  Mohan Singh and  others assembled at main chowk in the town here and started protest demonstration against Pakistan for targeting the innocent civilians.
Many of them were carrying play cards  and banners in their hands and amidst  raising slogans they burnt the effigy of  Pakistan.  They criticized BJP led Coalition Government in the State and  Modi led NDA Government at the Centre for their failure to tackle  the cross border firing and mortar shelling.
Strongly protesting over the unabated firing from across the border causing loss of precious lives of innocent people and injuries to the civilians, the Congress leaders said that the worsening situation on the border and LoC  has arisen, which is a cause of serious concern. They said that the  hollowness of policies of present Government on this front,  is evident from the fact that more than around 700 cease fire violations have taken place during last 14 months.
They demanded compensation in favour of firing victims to the tune of Rs 25 lakh to those who lost their lives,  Rs  20 lakhs for permanent disabled persons  and Rs 5 lakh to the injured persons. They also demanded that the Government should  fulfill the promise of allotting of  5 marla plots to the identified population of  IB & LoC in safer zones so that the innocent lives are saved from Pak firing.
The leaders also demanded that the 4% reservation should be given to ALC residents from Pargwal to Lakhanpur as the same is granted  to the others parts of the State. They also demanded the adequate compensation to the loss of properties, crops, cattle during the shelling.
