The entire leadership and ranks involved in these protests and were detained several times.
PCC chief said that the Modi Government is fleecing the people through multiple taxes and increase in taxes while the resources of J&K are being sold to outside people depriving the local population of the opportunities to earn their livelihood. Even sand and Bajri which used to taken out by locals from Nallas and rivers and sold on cheaper rates, have been allotted to outside people who are selling to the people at exorbitant rates which are unaffordable by common man.
He said that the people are realizing great hardships post disbanding and downgrading of the state, as no Govt and private job opportunities were created as promised. The adhoc, daily, contractual, need based workers are on roads, selectees of BSF/CISF, Anganwadi workers/helpers, Asha workers, Lamberdar/ Chowkidars are protesting for their rights but no one is listening to them from Govt or the ruling BJP. Farmers in the country are on agitation for around 4 months but Modi Govt is unmoved and indifferent.
Mir strongly condemned the series of terrorist strike resulting into innocent killings, especially political workers and questioned the claim of Modi Govt for its claim that militancy would die down post disbanding of state to UT.
He said that Congress party would soon launch a second phase of agitational programme throughout J&K and the mode of agitation would be chalked out keeping in consideration the Covid-19 situation.
Mir said that around 50,000 people directly participated in over 100th’s protest in 45 days in different parts of Jammu and Kashmir, while hundreds of Congress workers were arrested and detained by the police in different places. But the directions of the BJP Govt are that no protests should be held. However, Congress shall continued to strongly raise the voice of each and every section against the arbitrary actions of Modi Govt and UT administration.
