NEW DELHI: Taking a dig on the Congress stand on the AgustaWestland chopper scam, Union Minister Jitendra Singh today said “They should allow the truth to prevail on the case.”
He said this when asked whether according to reports there is a breach of national security as Agusta has crucial and confidential documents relating to IAF.
Without naming the Congress, Singh said “Most interesting thing that has emerged in the last few days that more they say that there is nothing to hide, more people tend to believe that they have something to hide. It is high time they allow the truth to prevail. That is why we are in favour that truth must come out,” Singh said outside Parliament.
On the possibility of a debate in the House and putting all the facts and figures in the open, he said, “Time and again government has always said we are for the debate. It is not only for the Agusta but in all other issues also. But somehow now it appears that the Opposition itself is shying away from the debate.”
He further said, “They are saying that they are innocent then it should be a golden opportunity for them to prove it now.”
When it was pointed out to him that the Congress is accusing that an attempt has been made to malign the image of its leadership, he said, “Malign by whom? It is they who should seek discussion.” (AGENCIES)
