JAMMU, Apr 18: Congress has questioned the delay in shifting the people who have completed their quarantine periods especially stranded on Kathua border on Punjab side.
JKPCC Chief Spokesperson, Ravinder Sharma said that the J&K residents, who have undergone necessary quarantine period on Punjab side of the Kathua border are agitating for shifting them to respective places, however, the district administration Kathua has told them to stay calm till any further decision about them, putting a question mark on Government’s policy. “The people have completed their quarantine periods after covering long distance mostly on foot and were expecting to be shifted immediately after their time was over but it has not happened,” Mr Sharma said, adding that their plea was genuine, particularly when the people were allowed in different parts after quarantine periods.
“The stranded people should be shifted to the respective native places, although the Punjab Govt has been looking after them,”
Sharma said adding people are getting desperate and the Govt should do the job without further delay.
The party has also asked the Union Territory administration to take needed steps for taking care of the residents of Jammu and Kashmir stranded in different States.
“The labourers from different districts of Jammu and Kashmir, working outside are in dire need of financial support and other safety measures,” Sharma added.
