Cong quells ‘speculation’ about Govt formation talks with PDP

NEW DELHI: Congress tonight brushed aside speculation that it was in talks about Government formation with erstwhile ally PDP in Jammu and Kashmir.

“The speculations are baseless and far from truth. I can’t understand why such misinformation is being spread and what for,” senior Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad said here.

Talking to reporters here, Azad again made it clear that the visit of Congress President Sonia Gandhi to Srinagar yesterday was only to share the grief of Mehbooba Mufti over the tragic loss of Mufti Mohammed Sayeed.

“One should not forget the long association of Sayeed with Congress and his proximity to Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi as well as Sonia Gandhi,” he said.

Azad said the meeting had nothing to do with formation of any new coalition in the State.

The senior Congress leader expressed hope that the speculation are put to rest once and for all. (AGENCIES)
