
*Demands resignation of Edu Minister

JAMMU, May 13: The Jammu & Kashmir Pradesh Congress and the Youth Congress leaders and activists today staged a strong protest at Shaheedi Chowk, Jammu against the NEET paper leak issue and burnt the effigy of Union Education Minister over the repeated controversies surrounding national level examinations.
Supported by senior Congress leaders- Raman Bhalla, Yogesh Sawhney, Ravinder Sharma, Ved Mahajan and others, the Youth Congress workers raised slogans against the Central Government, burnt the effigy of the Union Education Minister, and demanded Supreme Court monitored probe into the paper leakage scam, spoiling the career of lakhs of candidates. They also sought resignation of Education Minister.
Carrying flags and placards in hands a large number of PYC office bearers, activists, and youth workers, accompanied by senior Congress leaders, participated in the demonstration and expressed anger over the uncertainty and stress being faced by lakhs of students and their families due to repeated examination related controversies.
JKPYC vice president Ranjodh Singh; Dr Suhaib Manhas-secretary JKPYC, Amir Malik- joint secretary, Haris Aly- joint secretary PYC, Hussaini Mubarak Chowdhary- Assembly general secretary, Harris, among others led the protest.
Addressing the gathering, Youth Congress leaders said that the repeated incidents of paper leaks, exam irregularities, and cancellation of examinations have completely exposed the failure of the BJP-led Central Government in ensuring a transparent and fair examination system. They said that students spend years preparing for competitive examinations with great dedication, but the government’s negligence and inability to conduct examinations fairly have shattered the confidence of the youth.
The leaders stated that the NEET controversy has created panic and frustration among students across the country, especially among those from middle class and economically weaker families who invest their time, energy, and resources in preparing for such exams.
Congress leaders demanded a high-level impartial investigation into the entire matter monitored by Supreme Court and to ensure accountability at every level. They also called for major reforms in the examination system so that students do not have to suffer because of repeated lapses and mismanagement.
Raman Bhalla strongly criticised the BJP-led Government and said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is answerable to the people of India for the repeated failures in conducting fair and transparent examinations across the country.
Yogesh Sawhney questioned how the government can speak about empowering youth and building a strong nation amidst such serious failures on examinations, and cancellation of recruitments. Ravinder Sharma said that the BJP Government must take responsibility for the growing number of examination irregularities taking place across India.
