KATHUA, Jan 1: Block Congress Committee (BCC) members projected the issues of the Hiranagar area, especially the border belt, during monthly meeting held at Hiranagar Sub Divisional headquarters here today.
The meeting was chaired by former MLC, Subhash Gupta while several Sarpanchs-Panchs and BCC functionaries attended it. During the meeting, the participants raised various issues pertaining to the public of their respective areas.
Subhash Gupta after listening to the problems of the representatives said that escalating hardships of public and lackadaisical attitude of the Govt toward the redressal of the problems had proved that it had turned Nelsons’ eye towards public.
Gupta said that cross border firing has increased since Modi Government came into existence. He said that in the recent firing incidence too, people had to bear the more hardships as they were suffering before. Raising queries over the construction of bunkers he said that the bunkers are not in sufficient number and on the other hand bunkers does not have toilet facilities.
Raising the issue of farmers Gupta said that a time was there when Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad Government had announced providing Government lands to the farmers who were cultivating the lands from years, under Roshni Act however, the present regime not only failed to give the benefit of Roshni Act to the farmers but is harassing the farmers by grabbing their lands.
Raising the issue of farmers, he said that during the recent rains and hailstorm the farmers suffered heavy loss of paddy crop for which no compensation has been paid yet. He also alleged that 20,000 farmers had not received their crop damage insurance despite paying the insurance charges. Raising demand of special recruitment drive in Army/para military forces for area youth, he demanded that the benefit should be given to border youth.
