JAMMU, July 6: To mark the 19th death anniversary of martyr Gurdeep Singh Soni of 8th Sikh Regiment , who laid down his life, while fighting with the militants, a function was organised at village Plouta in Ramgarh.
Madan Lal Sharma, former Member Parliament, former ministers Sham Lal Sharma, Raman Bhalla and Manjeet Singh also attended the Martyred Day function while parents of martyr, Mohan Singh & Manjeet Kour, Ex-Service men, Ex- Sarpanches, Panches and large numbers of people of the area were also present at the function to pay floral tributes to the martyr Gurdeep Singh Soni.
The speakers described martyr Soni, a hero of this area and strongly criticized the Pakistan for aiding the militancy in the J&K State. On this occasion guard of honour was given to the martyr by the Army.
ML Sharma, Sham Lal, Bhalla and Manjeet Singh while paying rich tributes to martyr said that Gurdeep Singh faced the enemy without caring for his life. He sacrificed his life like a true soldier.
Saluting the courage of the martyr Congress leaders said that the victory in Kargil was an achievement for which the nation is proud of the soldiers and citizens must rededicate themselves to the national cause and with unrelenting courage and fierce determination, our braves soldiers are guarding the country from the enemy’s clutches, While our brave jawans are still on a tough mission to uphold the dignity of our nation, the least which the rest of the countrymen can do is to give them moral support.”
Taking a dig on BJP Congress leaders said that since the NDA Govt came into power there has been tremendous increase in the infiltration,unprovoked Pak firing and over all tension on the border both at IB and LoC. They said that the casualties of our soldiers have increased many folds due to wrong policies of the Government.
Col Charanjit Singh, Col Tora, Balwant Singh, Baljeet Singh, Sub Major Ghar Singh, Darshan Singh, Manmohan Singh, Mohan Singh, Purushottam Sharma,Romesh Bhagat, Nicky Mahajan, Baburam Bhagat, and Bachan Choudhary also attended the function.
