JAMMU, Jan 10: Maintaining that the orders for granting reservation to the denizens of International Border (IB) along with Line of Control (LoC) will be issued by State Government soon after the meeting in State Administrative Council (SAC), Union Minister in PMO with independent charge of North Eastern States, Dr Jitendra Singh today accused Congress and National Conference (NC), who ruled the State for decades together, of discriminating between people of LoC and IB.
Talking to reporters here, after inaugurating the branch of State Bank of India at Gandoh, Doda and distribution of Mudhra loans among the scores of beneficiaries, Dr Jitendra Singh demanded a probe as to why this discrimination was made by the previous Governments among the people within a region.
He said if BJP led Government could take a decision in this regard why those who ruled the State as well as at Centre for last 65 years failed to do the same during their Government.
“Those parties responsible for such a gross discrimination with the people within one region owed an explanation to the masses and people of the State will not forget them for this grave sin and a cheating committed with them”, he added.
He said depriving the people of IB from four percent reservation benefits as given to people of LoC was politically motivated and BJP after coming to power tried to correct the anomalies made by the previous dispensations in the State.
He said what the Modi Government did in over last four years they could not do that in 65 years of power. “Instead they did scam after scams and after remaining out of power for five years their scams still surface,” he added.
Terming this a paradox, the Union Minister said BJP is committed to justice to all and appeasement to none and granting of 10 percent reservation to Economically Backward Classes (EBC) by Narendra Modi Government is testimony to it. He demanded that State Government should also implement the reservation for EBC.
He said 70 percent people of the country will come under the slab of Rs eight lakh income and five acres of land and also no reserved class of the people will be affected by the new law. “We have made a foolproof law and there is no space for challenging the same in the court of law”, he added.
In response to a question on IAS topper Shah Faisal, who quit the Government job to join politics, alleging that he resigned because the Muslims were being treated as second class citizens and State sponsored killings of innocent people, Dr Jitendra Singh said whatever the IAS officer has said is totally devoid of facts.
“Every one knows that the Modi Government has taken principled stand on justice to all and appeasement to none. This is the reason that for the first time this Government has sanctioned Rs 80,000 crore package for the development of J&K State and taken special care of minorities through Triple Talaq law etc.”
He said media was making hype of Shah Faisal’s resignation as many Government officers have quit their services and joined politics in past too. “Some of them have joined out of conviction while others out of convenience.” He said some of them are eyeing on Ministerial jobs while others desire to serve masses.
Dr Jitendra Singh said he too had quit the Government job and joined the politics at the time when the party, to which he was ideologically affiliated, was in opposition and not in power.
He, while taking strong exception over Shah Faisal’s statement that Muslims were being treated as second class citizens in the country, said that entire country celebrated his meritorious success in Civil Services without any discrimination on the basis of caste, colour, region and religion.
In response to a question that his (Faisal’s) father was killed by terrorists and instead of condemning the terrorists, he has criticized the Indian State, Dr Jitendra Singh said that this itself is indication regarding lack of courage and conviction. “If you have conviction you should have courage to call a terrorist a terrorist instead of putting fingers on a State which is tolerant”, he added.
The Union Minister while not giving any credence to the resignation of civil Servant said that no message will be carried by his statement as Kashmiri Muslim youth are going ahead.
He said during last some years the Kashmiri Muslim youth emerged toppers in Civil Services and other competitive examinations and recently 100 percent youth turned up for the recruitment in Fire Services.
On Ayodhya issue, Dr Jitendra Singh said “whatever Prime Minister said during his interview on the occasion of New Year we should wait and trust him”.
Later addressing a function organised by SBI in connection with distribution of loans under Mudhra Yojna, Dr Jitendra Singh said that during over last four years many public welfare schemes were launched by Prime Minister, Narendra Modi. The neglected areas of the country were given priority under these schemes to bring them at par with other developed areas of the country, he added.
Dr Jitendra Singh said the banks played a great role in making these schemes successful and under Jan Dhan Yojna, Rs 66000 crore was collected by the people in the banks. These are not the economic schemes of PM Modi but social schemes of our self esteem.
Highlighting the achievements of Modi Government, he said when it took over in May 2014 there were 38 percent toilets in the country whose number has increased to 96 percent now.
Likewise at that time only 70 percent of the villages in the country had electricity facilities but now there are 95 percent villages which have been electrified. Besides six crore families were provided with LPG facilities, which will touch eight crore by this year, he added.
He said under Ayushman Bharat, all the existing diseases of a person will come under insurance cover.
Lashing out at opposition parties for misleading the people of the State on the performance of BJP, he said many developmental projects and schemes for the State were taken up in hand during last four years. While quoting famous English writer Words Worth, he said those suffering form political myopia can’t see it.
Earlier Dr Jitendra Singh inaugurated Gandoh (Doda) Branch of SBI through remote Login from here. On the occasion, the Minister on the demand of people, announced two ATMs of SBI in the area on the assurance of Bank authorities.
The vote of thanks was proposed by DGM of the Bank. The SBI Bank authorities including General Manager and other officers also spoke on the occasion.
BJP leader Sanjeev Sharma, BJYM National Executive Member Bharat Sharma, Divender Wazir and others were present during the function.
