JAMMU, Feb 13: Political parties have geared up their activity for finalisation of candidates for March 7 election to eight seats of Legislative Council as last date for filing nomination papers (February 18) is drawing nearer). Top leaders of the Congress including Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare Ghulam Nabi Azad, AICC (I) general secretary, Incharge Jammu and Kashmir, Mohan Prakash and PCC (I) president Prof Saif-ud-Din Soz would meet in New Delhi on February 16 to discuss strategy for the MLC elections including sharing of seats with the coalition partner, the National Conference and finalisation of candidates for the Congress seats. Main opposition party, the PDP is holding its Core Committee meeting on February 15 to finalise its candidates for two seats, which it would contest—one each in Kashmir and Jammu divisions. The BJP leaders including four MLAs, state unit president, Jugal Kishore and former president Shamsher Singh Manhas also met today to discuss the party strategy for the elections. The BJP is not in a position to win any seat.
