Cong holds protest at Bishnah over AIIMS issue

JAMMU, July 29 : Congress leaders and activists today held large protest demonstration and burnt the effigy of Dy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh at main Chowk Bishnah town over the issue of denial of AIIMS to Jammu and failure of Government to fulfill the commitment.
A large number of people and prominent Congress workers led by PCC leaders including Sham Lal Sharma, Raman Bhalla, Dr Manohar Lal, Manjit Singh, Indu Pawar and others held a strong protest demonstration against the Centre and State Governments over the denial of AIIMS in Jammu region as announced and later as committed in writing by Deputy Chief Minster and other ministers and legislators of BJP representing the Government in this regard. They burnt the effigy of Deputy Chief Minister, demanding his resignation and others who were party to the written commitment to get the sanction order of AIIMS in Jammu by or before July 20, 2015.
Addressing the gathering Sham Lal Sharma lashed out at Centre and State Government, especially BJP which has betrayed the mandate of the people on all fronts and by taking U-turn on all vital commitments made with the people of Jammu region. The BJP which secured mandate by misleading the people of Jammu region on various issues including abrogation of Article 370, citizenship right to West Pakistan refugees and one time settlement of PoK refugees, border residents who are facing brunt of Pakistan firing and One Rank One Pension to Ex-Servicemen, and claimed to be the champion of Jammu region, surrendered for the lust of power.
Mr Sharma said that AIIMS is rightful claim of Jammu region and the struggle shall be taken to the logical conclusion till the demand is met and notification issued as per law for the AIIMS in Jammu along with allocation of funds for the same.
Addressing the gathering Raman Bhalla lambasted the BJP and its leaders who have mislead and betrayed the trust of people by falsely giving written commitment on June 18, on the eve of 72 hours bandh call, in order to ensure the smooth visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and to seek the withdrawal of bandh call. He said that Deputy Chief Minister, Nirmal Singh, Forest Minster Bali Bhagat and three BJP MLAs in the presence of speaker Kavinder Gupta gave a written commitment which they could never fulfill and so they must step down on moral ground.
Manjit Singh, Manohar Lal Sharma, Manmohan Singh, Indu Pawar Kuldip Raj Verma, Shiv Dev Singh, Maheshwar Singh, MK Bhardwaj, Shashi Sharma, Ashwani Puri, Neeraj Gupta, Ashok Dubey, Darshan Raina, Vijay Tagotra and others also addressed the people and accused the BJP of total sell-out and deceiving the people of Jammu region including farmers, border residents, refugees of 1947, 1965, 1971 and Ex-Servicemen who are fighting for one rank one pension.
