Cong gearing up for upcoming Local Bodies elections: PCC chief

JAMMU, May 17: The Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee president Vikar Rasool Wani today said that Congress Party is gearing up for the upcoming Local Bodies elections in the Jammu and Kashmir.
Speaking at the meeting of the party functionaries held at JKPCC office here today, PCC chief said that party would contest upcoming Local Bodies and Panchayat elections with full might and expose the nefarious designs of BJP which only believes in the politics of hate and division in the society. He said that the people of the J&K are wise enough to give a befitting reply to the BJP.
Wani also referred to the upcoming JMC elections, guiding the attendees to focus on ward-wise programs to strengthen the party’s connect with people at the grassroots level. He said that we must direct focus on the elections and start preparing in full swing. There are a lot of challenges on the ground that must be countered to help people and also come out strong electorally. The local body elections are an opportunity for the Congress party to be able to represent people, the PCC chief said.
The JKPCC president also issued instructions to the party leaders for the upcoming program to be held on May 21 which marks the death anniversary of Rajiv Gandhi. He said that the day marks the sacrifice of son of the nation and Congress will pay it’s tributes.
Working president Raman Bhalla said that there is a wave of support for Congress seen in Karnataka and we must take that forward in Jammu and Kashmir as well. We should take these elections as an opportunity to also test preparedness for the assembly polls as and when they will be held. He encouraged the party workers to gear up for elections.
Senior leader Mula Ram said that with effort in the right direction, Congress Party can secure great victory in the elections. He added that we must all work together with a vision that people of Jammu Kashmir deserve better than the selfish and ignorant governance of the BJP, which has left people in a huge pool of problems.
DCC Jammu (Urban) president Yogesh Sawhney said that a massive program will be held by the Congress party to observe the death anniversary of the former PM. He asked the party workers/ function aries to gear up for the programme and coming elections.
DCC Jammu (Rural) chief, Hari Singh Chib said that the main focus is on organisational matters. “ We have district, block presidents and all focusing on the ground situations. “We will win the Local Body elections. The strategy at the ground level will be outlined for the preparations for not only the local body elections but also for the possibility of assembly elections in the near future,” he added.
