Cong expresses concern over border shelling, demands relief for affected families

JAMMU, Apr 15: J&K Congress has expressed serious concern over repeated incidents of shelling by Pakistan at several places along the LoC and border by Pakistan, leading to casualties of civilians and forces and lot of hardships by the border residents.
Reacting to recent incidents of shelling by Pakistan, JKPCC Chief G A Mir and senior leaders of the border belt of Rajouri – Poonch, Baramulla, Kupwara have said that the border population is becoming targeted facing loss of precious lives and sacrifices of our jawans, as the border areas witnessed escalation in such incidents. They regretted that these incidents have not stopped, even at this crucial time.
They criticised Pakistan for resorting to repeated shelling, which witnessed an increase in the past few years and alleged that the Modi Govt has failed to contain and force Pakistan to stop all this. The figures reveal that there is huge rise in the incidents of ceasefire violations during the previous few years.
They sympathized with the families of martyrs and those injured as well as those who suffered in terms of property. They prayed for the recovery of the injured and demanded immediate disbursement of ex gratia relief to the affected families.
The leaders, who issued the statement, included Haji Rashid, G N Monga, Ravinder Sharma, Shabir Khan, Jahangir Mir, Ashok Sharma, Ch Zaffarullah, , Ch Akram, Hazi Farooq Mir, Ch Shahnawaz, Ch Abdul Gani, Parveen Khan, S Rajinder Singh and Sain Rasheed.
