Cong Councilors register protest with DC over mode of NFSA implementation

KARGIL, Mar 16: A delegation of Congress Councilors, LAHDC Kargil today called on Deputy Commissioner (DC), Kargil, Kacho Hassan Khan at his office and registered protest over the mode of implementing NFSA in Kargil district.
The councilors expressed their deep concern on the recent order issued by the Assistant Director, CAPD Kargil wherein he issued orders for implementation of provisions of NFSA at the rate of 5kgs/person/month ( Rice and Atta) for APL(NPHH), BPL(PHH) and 21 kgs/Ration Ticket  (Rice and Atta) for PHH(AAY).
The Councilors conveyed public concern on the change in the scale of ration and said that the populace in Kargil has come to a great shock and the public is very perturbed over this decision of the Government.
After lodging its protest before the Deputy Commissioner, councilors briefed the media and said that they will stage protest if people of Kargil are deprived of their rights.
Talking to media, prominent Congress leader and Councillor, Pashkum Kacho Feroze said, “Although we support any Government decision based on transparency but we urge upon the Government to consider the remoteness and meager agriculture production in Ladakh region in general and Kargil in particular and full fill our genuine demand”.
Kacho Feroze said that they have already taken up the issue with Deputy Commissioner Kargil and appealed him to take up the same with higher authorities as soon as possible.
Moreover, District Congress Committee also wrote to Governor N N Vohra on the issue in which the party has urged Governor to revoke this order of the CAPD Kargil or put it in abeyance until this scale is revised by the State to the previous scale.
Councilor’s including Zakir Hussain, Skalzang Wangyal and Mohammad Ali were also present in the delegation.
