Cong committed to protect interests of J&K: Bhalla

JAMMU, Nov 2: Senior Congress leader, Minister for Housing, Culture and Horticulture and MLA Gandhi Nagar constituency Raman Bhalla said that Congress is committed to protect and prioritize interests of the Jammu and Kashmir and live example of that was sanctioning of medical colleges, hospitals, upgradation of educational infrastructure and electrification of unelectrified areas.
Minister said this, while addressing party workers meeting in Sainik Colony, which was attended by large number of party workers including ex-corporators, block presidents, district general secretaries, secretaries, Sarpanchs, Panchs, etc.
He said that Ghulam Nabi Azad sanctioned five new Medical Colleges and Cancer Hospitals for Jammu and Kashmir as Union Health Minister which no other person could do it.
Taking a dig over People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Bhalla said that when the developmental activities were in full bloom in the entire State, PDP felt insecure of Azad’s popularity and prioritized its own political interests rather than giving peace and prosperity a chance to flourish in Jammu and Kashmir.
While talking about the developmental works carried out by him in Gandhi Nagar constituency, Minister stated that electrification of number of areas in the constituency was done by getting a number of electric poles and transformers installed and upgraded. Adequate water supply was also made available to the people of the area by laying pipes, installing hand pumps and number of tube wells constructed and got functional to augment the need of drinking water, Minister added.
He impressed upon the party workers to apprise the people about the policy and programmes of the Congress party and also appealed to the people to use their vote keeping in view the development of area and benefit of common masses.
Minister also appealed to the people to cast their valuable votes in his favour for prestige, dignity and self respect.
Prominent among present were Radhey Sham, ex-Corporator Jai Singh, Choudhary Dwarka, ex-Corporator Bhushan Sharma, Sarpanch Kashmir Singh, Shamsher Singh, senior leader Inder Sehgal, CL Bhatti, Parveen Singh, Thakur Chamail Singh, ex-Corporator Kamal Singh, etc.
Later, Mr Bhalla also attended public meetings in Kissan Mohallah at Bhatindi and Nai Basti in Gandhi Nagar constituency, which were attended by large number of people including women.
While speaking, Minister apprised the people about the policies and programmes of the Congress party and also highlighted the works done by Ghulam Nabi Azad during his tenure as Chief Minister of J&K.
