AKHNOOR, Nov 11: Seeking people’s support on the basis of his performance during the previous two stints, senior Congress leader and Minister for PHE, Irrigation & Flood Control, Sham Lal Sharma today reiterated his commitment to further accelerate the tempo of development in Akhnoor to make it a model constituency.
Addressing series of public meetings at villages Gurah Panara, Queer, Latheri, Phagal and Chagyal in Akhnoor constituency today, the Minister said that during the past two tenures being representative of Akhnoor, he served the people with missionary zeal and did whatever possible for the welfare and prosperity of this area and the people.
He said, “people are witness to the fact that I spent maximum time in the constituency to address the day-to-day problems of the people. I immediately responded to the problems of the people and tried to provide improved basic facilities like drinking water, electricity, road connectivity, education and medicare to every nook and corner of the constituency,” Mr Sham said.
Mr Sharma said there is no alternative to this historical and oldest party in the country. It has proved its strength and capabilities since independence. With the sincere and dedicated efforts of the party, the entire picture of the nation has been transformed during the past over five decades. He said it is very easy to criticize those who are in helm of affairs, but is practically difficult to show results. Congress leaders always maintained their strength and safeguarded the honour and dignity of the country, Mr Sharma added.
He asked the people to further strengthen the hands of Congress party and bring it to power exclusively in the State to ensure all round development of all three regions of the State without any kind of discrimination. He asked the people to remain vigilant against the evil designs of BJP and PDP who just give hollow slogans and incite the religious sentiments of people at the time of elections.
