KHOUR, July 13: District Congress Committee (Rural Jammu) led by former Deputy Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Tara Chand, staged a protest demonstration at Pallanwala today alleging step-motherly treatment by the BJP- led Government in Chhamb constituency in mitigating just and genuine demands of the area.
While addressing the protestors, Tara Chand said that the BJP unit of Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir as well as Central Government is giving step motherly treatment to Chhamb constituency and are ignoring the demands of the people. He said that Jourian-Khour-Pallanwalla Road is in dilapidated condition and needs immediate repair and despite several representations and reminders to the Government nothing has been done so far.
He alleged that the BJP Government is deliberately ignoring the demand of the area as it believes in vote bank politics and the slogan of ‘Sabka Saath and Sabka Vikas’ is a hoarse political gimmick. He said that the potholes on the said road are claiming innocent lives as frequent accidents are occurring on daily basis which are likely to increase as rainy season has knocked the doors of Jammu and Kashmir.
Tara Chand further said that the condition of other internal roads of Chhamb constituency which counts in hundreds in numbers is too similar and requires immediate macadamization and the BJP is deliberately ignoring this constituency.
Coming down heavily on the BJP and terming it as anti-Jammu, Tara Chand said that the Saffron party has given toll plazas to the people of Jammu one after another. He said that the BJP leaders of Jammu who claimed to abolish toll plazas failed to do so and another toll plaza on Jammu-Akhnoor road is in offing and will be established soon. He urged upon the government to desist from these anti-Jammu policies. He further demanded basic amenities like regular power, water supply and proper health infrastructure in rural areas. He also urged the Govt to treat Permanent Resident Certificates (PRCs) as domicile certificates and not to harass the people further by queuing up for obtaining domicile certificates especially those who possesses PRCs.
Senior party leaders Suram Singh, Balbir Singh, Dwarika Nath, Jagdish Raj, Daljeet Singh, Prem Singh, Rohit Manhas and others also joined.
