SRINAGAR, Mar 16: To create awareness about the rights of labourers, the Department of Labour today organized a day-long conference on labour laws at SKICC here.
The conference was inaugurated by Labour Commissioner, Vipra Bhal, who said the conference will generate awareness among the employees and the employers with regard to their rights and responsibilities.
She said the Labour Laws are in place to protect rights of working class and to ensure peaceful working atmosphere for the labourers. She said the department intends to ensure that an employer and the employee work in tandem and in peaceful atmosphere. She said the conference is aimed at promoting amicable Employer-Employee relations besides sensitization of stake holders.
Giving progress report of the department, she said in previous fiscal, about 934 cases were registered in the department while 1243 cases were disposed off which included pending cases of earlier financial year. She said the department ensures early disposal of cases so that the working class is benefitted.
Labour Commissioner also said that the inspectors of the department conducted around 30000 inspections during the year to ensure implementation of labour laws.
On the occasion, Labour Commissioner also released a bi-lingual anthology of Labour Laws published by Deputy Labour Commissioner Kashmir Ghulam Rasool Kumar.
Deputy Labour Commissioner also spoke on the occasion and presented the welcome address while advocate Majid Zahoor presented a presentation on behalf HoD Law Department University of Kashmir.
