JAMMU, Nov 2: The Confederation of SC/ST/OBC Organisations has resolved to stage protest and conduct Gherao of the Civil Secretariat on the opening day here on November 5.
Talking to media-persons here today, president of the Confederation, RK Kalsotra said that Confederation in its meeting held recently has proposed to conduct peaceful `Gherao’ of the Civil Secretariat for the implementation of Reservation Policy on November 5, on the day of reopening of the Secretariat in the winter capital city here.

Kalsotra said that Confederation had submitted a memorandum of demands to the State Governor on September 9, 2018 at a conference held at Srinagar in which it was stated that in case the demands were not fulfilled, then the Confederation will be forced to conduct peaceful `Gherao’ of the Civil Sectt on the opening day of the Darbar move offices in Jammu.
He said the main demands projected in the memorandum were restoration of reservation in promotions, clearing backlog vacancies of the SCs/STs and OBCs categories through SSRB and JKPSC and constitution of a committee for filling up of these vacancies, implementation of Mandal Commission report in J&K providing 27 % reservation to the OBCs etc.
Kalsotra said the Confederation members also met the Advisor to the Governor Khurshid Ahmed Ganai on Sept 30 and apprised him of the pending issues of the reserved category employees. They have also sought time to meet the Governor in near future and forcefully project their issues.
Roshan Choudhary, Mohd Shafi Bajjad, Bansi Lal Choudhary, Ch Sabar, Darshan Banmotra and Mohinder Pal also accompanied Kalsotra.
