KATHUA Oct 16: A one day cadre camp cum convention was held here today by All India Confederation of SC/ST/OBC Organization Kathua Unit in which along with cadre of Confederation, various social leaders also participated.
The agenda of convention was protection of Constitutional rights of Reservation in promotion, reservation in private sector, stoppage of atrocities against Dalits & passage of 117th Rajya Sabha Amendment in Parliament.
Chief guest of the cadre camp R.K. Kalsotra, who is the State president of J&K unit of the Confederation while speaking on the occasion cautioned the State Government to immediately fill the backlog of 26000, 16000, 5000 posts meant for SCs/STs and OBCs, allocate adequate funds under SCP/STP, clear all pending cases of scholarships immediately or face Gherao on opening of Secretariat on November 7.
Kalsotra further said that caste based atrocities are on the rise and must be dealt with this sternly, prevention of Atrocities Act must be implemented strictly. Land belonging to these people are being encroached upon by the land mafia and no effective redressal is provided, as a result of which, people suffer perennially.
Shiv Kumar Pangotra district president of Confederation, Kathua said that he would hold similar cadre camps in all tehsil of Kathua and prepare the masses to join proposed Gherao of the Secretariat and submit a memorandum to the Chief Minister.
Yassar Khan and Balbir Veera raised the objection against district Administration for not issuing PRC and category certificates for which poor people are facing harassment. The other speaker were Roshan Choudhary, D.R Soni, (retd). SSP Sardar Khan, Hans Raj, Ram Verma, Madhan Lal, Dr. Shiv Kumar and leaders from different villages of Kathua, Hiranagar, Marheen, Billawar, Bani, Basholi, Ramkot, Basantpur etc.
