KISHTWAR, Oct 14: The civil society of Kishtwar in its meeting here, today held under the chairmanship of one of its senior members and Congress leader Shamsher Singh Bhandari has expressed grave concern over water scarcity in the area and rural belt of Kishtwar.
The meeting urged the authorities to take immediate steps in restoring the water supply in Kishtwar as people are facing many hardships due to same during these festival days.
The meeting also appealed the authorities of PDD to ensure round the clock power supply during the festival days in the entire Kishtwar district.
It said despite making repeated pleas to PHE authorities, they failed to restore the water supply putting the people to many hardships. Mr Bhandari warned that in case the callousness of the authorities continues, the civil society will come to streets. He also demanded resuming of work on Kishtwar canal which has been abandoned over years back.
