Concern over denial of ration to migrants

JAMMU, May 5: Pradesh Congress Migrant Cell held a meeting at Purkhoo Camp today under the leadership of its chairman Hira Lal Pandita in which grave concern was expressed over the problems being faced by the displaced people from the Valley and callousness of the State and Central Governments in addressing them.
The meeting took government to task for its failure in distribution of ration to displaced people for the last three months and said it is a pity that the Government knowing fully that the displaced people especially those dependent on cash relief from Government can’t afford to purchase the ration from market. It said non distribution of ration for three months amounts to human rights violation.
The meeting warned agitation in case the ration will not be supplied by this week.
It also demanded immediate steps be taken up for implementation of PM’s employment package for migrant youth, renovation of quarters at Purkhoo, Jagti and Muthi construction of road at Purkhoo and Jagti besides bettering water and power supply.
The meeting demanded that government should also ensure the passage of Shrines and Temples Bill and ensure the security of religious places in Valley.
Others who addressed the meeting included Shadi Lal Pandits co-convener of the Cell, Ajay Bharti, Deepak Razdhan, Ramesh Riana, B L Bazaz, Daya Krishan, president Purkhoo camp and Rahul Raina.
