JAMMU, Jan 10: Regretting that successive regimes have neglected Panchari-Moungri belt of Udhampur district, newly elected member of the District Development Council (DDC) Jasvir Singh today said that a comprehensive plan for overall development of this belt would be formed very soon.
Addressing his maiden press conference after his election as younger DDC member of the Union Territory, Jasvir Singh said inhabitants of Panchari-Moungri belt have reposed faith in him by rejecting powerful and resourceful candidates of the mainstream parties. “I will work with dedication to come-up to the expectations of the people”, he said and added that with the support of locals he will develop this neglected belt as an ideal region.
Listing his priorities, Jasvir Singh said developing health, education and road network will be his focused areas. He regretted that degree colleges were opened in many undeserving areas due to political considerations but Panchari-Moungri belt was ignored.
He demanded separate Government Degree College for tehsil Panchari and Mougri. He also demanded Higher Secondary Schools at Panjar and Gailote. He asked the authorities to solve the problem of the shortage of teaching and non-teaching staff in the existing schools and equipped all the schools with modern equipments like computers. Jasvir further demanded NSS, NCC and Bharat Scouts and Guides wings for each Higher Secondary School in his DDC.
Pointing towards the health sector in this belt, Jasvir Singh demanded up-gradation of the existing health institutes besides deputing doctors and para medical staff. He also demanded opening of new dispensaries in the far-flung areas. He also demanded construction of roads to all untouched areas and a comprehensive policy to maintain the existing road.
Observing that his region has huge tourism potential, Jasvir Singh, who is also young volunteer of Team Jammu, demanded that Panchari-Moungri should be developed as a tourist destination.
