JAMMU, Feb 12: Minister for Housing, Horticulture and Culture Raman Bhalla today said that the Government has prepared a comprehensive plan to revive overall profile of the State by giving a fillip to the infrastructure in every nook and corner of the State.
This was stated by the Minister while addressing large gathering at Bahu Fort near Guru Ravi Dassji Sabha, here today.
Mr. Bhalla said Government is taking several steps to develop Bahu Fort area by providing modern line way side facilities to the visitors as it is one of the fast emerging pilgrims destination
He said Government has spent Rs. 2 crore for construction of multipurpose community halls in Bahu Fort area besides Rs. 5.5 crore for Govindpura Kullian, Barzalla, Channi Rama, Nai Basti, Babliana, Gangyal, Bahu Fort, Shanker Colony and Ambedkar Nagar people so that the people can organize their social and religious functions there on minimum fee . The Minister informed that Government has launched various schemes to upgrade the socio-economic condition of the poor like Basic Services to Urban Poor, BSUP, Indira Awas Yojna, and Rajiv Awas Yojna. He called upon the people to avail the benefits of such schemes.
For boosting tourism in Bahu Fort area, the Minister said that Government has created facilities for pilgrims and tourists like recreational garden, aquarium, Balidan stumb, landscaping, view points, tug shop, toilet blocks, fencing, illumination, besides construction of darshani deodi near Kalika colony.
In order to attract domestic and foreign tourists towards City of Temples, Mr Bhalla said that focused attention is being paid for developing new tourism spots and conserve the old monuments of the region like Mubarak Mandi and Shri Maha Kali Temple in Bahu Fort.
The Minister said Government has sanctioned Rs 3.5 crore for developing river Tawi embankments near Peer-Kho temple which included construction of parks, Tourist Reception Centre, artificial lake, adding that Rs 90 lakh have been spent for construction of view points and road widening from Bahu Fort to Hari Ki Pouri temple.
To strengthen the Panchayati Raj Institutions, the Minister informed that Government has approved inclusion of amendments to various sections of the Panchayati Raj Act to accommodate various demands within the overall frame work of the Jammu and Kashmir Panchayat Raj Act.
