AMRITSAR, Jan 16: A complex heart surgery has been performed successfully at Ivy Hospital, here.
Addressing a press conference at Ivy Hospital here today, Dr Pankaj Goel, Director and Chief Heart Surgeon said that Nirmal Singh (a patient) was diagnosed with a leakage in his aortic valve about a year ago, adding he delayed surgery and developed jaundice and heart failure, he was denied surgery by various hospitals as his heart had become big with pumping capacity of heart decreasing considerably.
He said, “We took up the challenge to treat the patient by using the latest techniques, adding the patient was operated upon and his valve was replaced.
“The operation was successful and Nirmal Singh has returned to normal active life in one month,” remarked Dr Pankaj.
He further said that they were very much satisfied with the result as it was nothing less than a miracle to save patient’s life.
It is pertinent to mention here that the Heart Surgery Department at Ivy Hospital is providing world class care at nearly the half of the cost of hospitals in Delhi. The department is now performing all complex aortic and valve surgeries routinely.
