JAMMU, Mar 17: A group of businessmen from Jammu and Kashmir today met Union Home Minister Amit Shah and were believed to have discussed ways to further create opportunities for entrepreneurs from the Union Territory
Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Union Minister of State in Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) Dr Jitendra Singh were present during the meeting held at the Parliament House complex.
“Had extensive interaction with representatives of different sectors from Jammu & Kashmir in presence of Finance Minister @nsitharaman ji and MoS PMO @DrJitendraSingh ji. Modi government is working relentlessly to ensure development and lasting peace in the region (sic),” Shah tweeted.

Loans to manufacturers, artisans, industry incentives and a few other issues were discussed so that more business opportunities could be created in Jammu and Kashmir, according to an official.

The Home Minister told the delegation that 50,000 hectares of land has been identified for investment by the industrialists in Jammu and Kashmir which will lead to massive employment opportunities and development of the Union Territory.
Asserting that certain restrictions including internet did cause some inconvenience to the people including traders in Jammu and Kashmir, Shah told the delegation that curbs were necessary to avoid deaths. There was not a single casualty post August 5 decisions, he reportedly said, adding this has paved the way for return of normalcy soon.
In future, Shah added, there will be no hartals and curfews in Kashmir and people will lead normal life.
Shah, Sitharaman and Dr Jitendra Singh patiently listened to demands projected by the traders from Kashmir and assured that they will be considered.
Addressing, Dr Jitendra Singh said Narendra Modi Government is keen to give North East like focus to Jammu and Kashmir.
Those who attended the meeting included Kashmir Chamber Commerce and Industries president Sheikh Ashiq Ahmad, Kashmir Trade and Manufacturers Federation representative Farhaan Kitab, Kashmir Economic Alliance chairman Iqbal Trumboo, Ashiq Mir, Majid Wafai, Manzoor Pakhroon, Parvez Ahmed Bhat, Muzamil Bacha, Arshad Rasool, Shahid Kambili, Wahid Malik, Abdul Hamid Wanjnoo, Sheikh Feroz and Baldev Singh Rana among others.
