Community based development works to be priority of RDD: Haq

DODA, May 2: Affirming that community based developmental works is the priority of Rural Development Department, Minister for Rural Development & Panchayati Raj and Law & Justice Abdul Haq Khan  today laid foundation stone of 110 metre steel suspension bridge over the  river Chenab in the Nasib Nagar area of district to be constructed  with an estimated cost of Rs 1.76 crore.
The much desired bridge will provide connectivity to at least 15000 people living in the Siraj area of the district.
Minister of State for Science & Technology and Transport (Independent charge),  Rural Development & Panchayati Raj, Sunil Kumar Sharma, MLC Firdous Tak, MLC Shyam Lal Bhagat, MLC  Naresh Gupta, MLA Doda,  Shakti Raj Parihar, MLA Inderwal,  G.M Saroori, DDC  Doda Bhupinder Kumar, ADDC Doda, Er Nariender Singh Bali, ACD Doda Susheel Kumar were also present.
Earlier, Minister took the detailed review of  RDD  in a meeting with  Block Development Officers , VLWs, GRS and other functionaries of the department.
Evaluating the Panchayat wise performance  of the department in view of implementation of MGNREGA,IAY, 13 FC and other schemes,  Minister directed the concerned officers to ensure that  the benefits of all the developmental projects percolate down to the desired beneficiaries.
Underscoring the call of continuous monitoring and evaluation of performance in execution of works, minister further instructed the officers to work towards creating the tangible assets.
For maintaining transparency and providing information to the people about welfare schemes being executed by the Government in rural areas, the Minister emphasized that the Monitoring Information System of the Department should be updated regularly.
Khan also reviewed the achievements under Integrated Watershed Management Programme (IWMP) and asked the concerned authorities to mobilize manpower within the department for effective implementation of IWMP projects in all districts.
