JAMMU, Feb 17: Accusing the State Government of adopting an indifferent attitude towards the people’s grievances and rubbishing Government’s claims of success on various fronts, former minister Raman Bhalla today said that common man has been subjected to extreme hardships due to its wrong policies.
Addressing public meeting at Nai Basti area in Gandhi Nagar constituency here today Bhalla held BJP-led-Central Government and State Government responsible for the plight of innocent people. He said that nothing will be fetched by giving fake assurances and changing roadmaps unless and until Government modifies the intention to solve their issues. He underlined the need for carrying forward the comprehensive development plan launched by Congress led Government to achieve the desired results of inclusive and holistic development.
Raman Bhalla said that it is a matter of serious concern that the residents of Jammu city have to face such a huge problem pertaining to ration supply in their areas. Bhalla also said that the ration quota has not been released by the CAPD Department despite depositing money with it for the ration quota, but the ration supply in the whole Jammu city is totally held up due to unknown reason.
He pointed out that the price hike of Rs 5 per kg on atta and rice besides the reduction of sugar quota in the PDS supply had already served a severe blow to the people, and claimed that while FCI is providing food grains to Jammu and Kashmir on old rates, the State Government has suddenly increased the rates of ‘atta’ by 62 % and rice by 50 % without making any public announcement.
He added that while scarcity of rations at the CAPD sale outlets caused enormous hardships to the consumers, the erratic power and drinking water supply have added to their miseries. He said that utility services are almost in shambles with coalition Government just doing lip service.
He further said since the Aadhaar card had been termed as a bonafide document, the requirement of the same has now become all the more important. “There is a good percentage of people to whom the Aadhaar card has not been issued due to which they are facing a lot of difficulties,” he said.
Accusing the BJP of indulging in ‘double speak’ on the issue of West Pakistan Refugees, Bhalla said the party which had promised to provide citizenship rights to the refugees before elections was now providing only identity cards to them.
